Lighting of the Third Advent Candle  Joyce Fairbanks/Joyce Messer

Reader: Rejoice in the Lord always.  (Light the first candle.) And again I will say, rejoice.  (Light the second candle.) Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.  And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.  Jesus is near. Despite the busy-ness, the pressure, and the assault of our senses that so often passes for Christmas, we have the promise of scripture that … Jesus is near.  When the shopping drains us physically, and the

spending drains us financially, when we forget which party we’re supposed to attend on which day, when we think we can’t stand to hear “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” one more time, then we will remember to REJOICE…..and again…..REJOICE.  And we will light a candle to help us remember that Jesus is near. The peace of God will keep us in Christ Jesus. (Light the third candle.)

People:  Come, Lord Jesus. Amen.

Women’s Bible Study

If hearing God has seemed challenging, this study is for you! Join us as Bible Study teacher, Priscilla Shirer, invites us to explore a more intimate relationship with Him, one that can make hearing Him - His will, His heart, and His voice - your ongoing experience. Discover how you can listen with greater confidence, clarity, and discernment.  “Discerning the Voice of God: How to Recognize When God Speaks” is a 7 week dvd/workbook study that will give us daily opportunities to:

* More deeply understand the Holy Spirit’s role in your life

* Differentiate His voice from imposter’s voices, even your own

* Glimpse His guidance in your everyday life

* Grow consistently in obedience, surrender, stillness, and humility

The study will be held on Friday mornings at 9:15am beginning September 28th at the home of Christine Braxton. Workbooks are available at Lifeway Christian Bookstore in Central Park for $13. Please note that if you order online, make sure you order the Revised & Expanded version which is white with gold lettering.  If you would like to join us or have any questions, please contact Christine Braxton
